This year, Conlin's birthday fell on Easter. I was
curious, so I looked it up and found out that this won't happen
again until 2091. Conlin will be turning 82! We
decided that we needed to celebrate this once-in-our-lifetime
event in a big way. We had a big backyard Easter egg hunt
with just a "few" of our family and friends! It was a fun
celebration! Hope you enjoy seeing some pictures of
Conlin's birthday party and Easter.
We were
pretty lucky to have decent weather on Saturday. It could
have been a little warmer but at least it wasn't raining.
Here is
the birthday boy ready to have some fun! He loved his
special frog hat and tie to match is frog-themed party.
Anika
was as excited about the party as Conlin. She wanted
something special to wear for the party, too. If you look
closely at her ponytails, you'll notice that there are Easter
eggs tucked into them. She was pretty happy!
The big
activity of the party was the Easter egg scramble. We
divided the kids into age groups and let them run wild grabbing
eggs! They all went home with lots of candy and prizes.
Here's
Conlin with all of his 2-3 year old friends.
Here are
Anika and her friends as they finished gathering all the eggs.
Conlin
in action!!
It took
the help of 3 Grandmas to go through all those eggs!
After
finding all those eggs, it was time for some lunch.
The
helicopter was definitely a favorite of all the kids.
We're not sure how they crammed so many kids on it and were
still smiling. They were having a great time.
Have you
heard the kid song "Five Green Speckled Frogs"? That was
the inspiration behind this cake. Of course, for Conlin,
we did three frogs!
The last
thing we had for the kids was confetti-filled eggs. The
kids got to throw eggs at the fence and watch them explode with
confetti. I think I could have made a few hundred more!
It looks
like Anika was pretty thrilled with this game with Daddy.
As a
family project this year, we are gathering jammies to give to
kids who don't have the opportunity to get new pajamas.
Conlin requested that his friends bring a new pair of pajamas
instead of presents to his party. He was given 24 new
pairs of jammies!
All
dressed up on Easter morning
Anika--5
years old
Conlin--3
years old!
The kids
were excited to spend time with Grandma and Grandma Donna.
The kids
received new sleeping bags from the Easter bunny.
The kids
got to have one more egg hunt with their cousins on Easter.
Conlin
was pretty happy to look for eggs one more time!
I just
had to make Conlin another cake for his actual birthday.
Of course, it had to be something hockey. I decided to
attempt to recreate an Idaho Steelheads hockey puck.
Conlin was excited enough that he let me get a picture of him
with his cake while wearing his jersey.
Conlin
received this dress-up outfit from friends for his
birthday. He loves the big muscles in the arms and was
showing us how strong he is. Isn't he just too cute?!
My
parents and Grandma were able to come for the weekend,
too. The kids were excited that they came to watch them in
swim lessons before they left.
I think
that everyone knows how much Conlin adores hockey. He pays
so much attention while watching games. This is the play
set he received for his birthday. He insists that each of
the players stay in their designated spot. I walked into
the room just as he was starting a game. He even makes
sure his pretend games start with the anthem.
Anika is really hoping to raise $1500 this year! Can you
help her reach that goal? If you are able to support
Anika in her efforts for the March of Dimes, please click here
